g 33/40

I have one of these I bought at a good price for deer hunting in 1986. The 8mm mouser is tough on the deer population. What is the value on one of these with everything matching serial numbers. I think the stock was cut in the forearm area and the steel but plate is gon, replaced by a rubber one. Thanks,
Tim

There was one at the gunshow this weekend, think that the owner was on Crack or he thought that there was a Millionaire there that needed one to finish his collection....
Cap'n, I don't know these when I see them, but saw a German carbine that had a steel wraparound just above the buttplate at the show, was quoted $2,300 IIRC. Figured that was $2,100 over my limit. That what a G33/40 is?

That was it!

LBJ mentioned it to WLD Bill at the show setup this afternoon, WLD Bill said it was probably a deal. LBJ said the Cap'n thought the guy was nuts. Me--I'm way outta my turf. :):eek:

There was one at last weekend's show also. I talked to the guy about it and looked it over carefully. It was in a 33/40 stock but when I looked at it carefully with the jewelers loupe you could see faint VZ-24 markings. I brought it to the guy's attention and he said that he had bought it from an old guy that had owned it for years. Must have been faked up years ago then...

Cap'n, was the guy on an end cap on the next aisle over from my tables? Saw it and pointed it out to WLD Bill, or one of your crew. Guess that's why it was "only $750."

Yea Tim that was it. Watch out for that guy and the old guy with all the Mausers that had the rare M-39 Finn sniper made in the '50's awhile back. He had a rare VZ-23 that was a gunsmith special. It looked pretty good till you got it out in the daylight. Then you could see where it had been cut down and re-blued.

He had a TMCA banner on his table, I hope he doesn't set up at the militaria show in Franklin. Thanks for the heads up.
