I have a type 38 koshikawa double school marked 3 circles on mum marked arisaka. it has a front sight on a S barrel that has just the blade and a single pin keeping it in place. What can you tell me about this sight as it does not have front sight ears?

The first 2 million or so Tokyo made rifles had this type sight when made. The pin is a screw, or should be.

why yes. yes it is. i did not notice till you told me. it is a early 1 million rifle. 001001047. I am guessing an late 20s early 30s rifle. I have no good input on manufacture dates.

According to Frank Allan's chart, in The T 38 Arisaka rifle book, yours dates to 1917.
