Got this over spring break with a nambu from a friend. Posted on french boards they said to post here for more info.Was told that it couldve been africa french members with the nazi party or guard gun [not by the french board members here]. It has thick paint over it and kru1 on stock I thought it was kru4 .Anymore information and value would be good thanks Tom

For the sake of the French Forum I hope you make it clear that you did not get that salesmans puff from us. The closest any one came to implying North Africa was my reference to the Mejerda valley, to get you started, if you wished to pursue that theater. Also, you might wish to let all know that it is a late assembly, side-bar Mle1886 M93 R35.

I'll repost what I posted in the other board for the sake of discussion:

Looks right from what I can see, and the two Kru1 on the wrist is a known marking for Nazi Lebels. It indicates it cycled through the Krakau HZA in Poland for inspection and/or repairs and updates.

I was told by another collector the africa use by french not by the french rifle forum members they let me know what it was called and how may there was and that it was in so so shape . Thank to all the information they gave sorry for the confusion tom.

What RyanE said. It's a French R.35 carbine conversion of the Lebel. There are a number of period pics of them in use by German occupation troops and one of Kriegsmarine sailors, I believe on an E-boat, with several of these. The Kru-1 inspection indicates that the carbine went through the Krakau (Krakow) Poland HzA facility where it was repaired/inspected and placed into the German supply system for use. Value is probably in the range of $350 to $750. That's just a SWAG; there are others here who know better than me. Neat rifle.

Have seen at least a dozen of the "late" R35s with e/Kru1.
