There's a guy on the Japanese Military forum who has been posting a series of photos he took on trips to Peleliu in the past 10 - 20 years, along with stories about some of the pieces.

Definitely worth a look. The post about the US tank will move you.

I saw those yesterday I really liked the picture of the Japanese soldiers that had been in a cave for sixty years.(The picture not the soldiers)

Interesting, and sad. My dad was a Marine at Bouganville, and he said that Peleliu was a "mistake", and that we did not need to take the island.

Thanks to the person who took them, too.

I'm always wary when old corroded ammo is handled. They can be unpredictable in behaviour.

Great stuff

A member of our militaria club in Charlottesville Virginia been diving on WWII ships in the Pacific - he has shared many interesting photos with the club members. Interestingly enough his name is Eric also.
