This weekend I bought a 98k project BCD 4 with matching bolt, trigger guard, floor plate, follower ,ejector box, rear sight etc. It was a barreled action (with matching bolt) in a Bishop/Fajen stock. Not drilled/ tapped or damaged hand guard ring. It is typical BCD 1 marked receiver, Eagle 749 final assembly proof, Eagle 26 and subcontractor small parts, un numbered barrel etc. hh serial number suggests DOU production but the bolt root also has hh and the full serial number so the DOU pattern of only the four digits without suffix on bolt root does not hold up. BCD (in 1944) did not number their production so what is it?

Looking at it, it's a bcd production for sure. BUT, it's not 44- rather it's late 43 production using a bcd4 receiver. I have about 4-5 of these "hh" suffix bcd rifles recorded, and all of them are bcd4 receivers, and hh is the last of 43. Very neat variation!
