Is there any way to date a 1900FN/Browning pistol. I picked up an early model with a serial of 11,6xx .I have read where production records were lost durring WW1. Mechanically it is in pretty good shape.Cosmetically it looks it's age,but i got a good deal on it. Is there any place that offers replacement grip retainers and grip screws? It has one missing.

markus, a source that I have states a 100K were made by August 4 1904, and 500K by 1909. I don't know of a source for replacement retainers and screws. Denny

Markus,
A great reference for your pistol is Anthony Vanderlinen's "The Belgian Browning Pistols" book. He estimates between 1900-1901 approximately 10,000 FN1900 pistols produced. Then another 21,700 produced between 1901-1902. An additional 40,000 pistols produced 1902-1903.
I have a FN1900 in the 43,000 serial range and estimate is was produced around 1902-1903 from the data.
