1954? Not a KW era rifle but its the best of the species. Every improvement to the Garand
over its life time is on that rifle and its in perfect condition.

Very nice rifle indeed. Be sure to lube it correctly and put in a new oprod spring .

OK I'll check out Orion7 and order one gulliver62, i really like stainless too but have very little because 99% of my collection is WWII rifles.
$10 is very reasonable for a part that size,

thank you,

M1 Garand range report

It did seem to function OK the 2 times I've had it out, first time out only had day lite for 1 clip, my "group" was 10"....so these 2 clips were better but still need more practice, less pain, better rest than stack of 15 gal. nursery cans, then more practice LOL! excuses excuses...did i mention 58 year old eyes are aggravation? :p LOL!!

What was the range you fired at? 100 yards? I also wonder if that's the right sized target for the range you were firing at. In my opinion, that bull would get lost pretty easy at 100 yards. That's essentially a headshot on a person at 100yards, if that makes you feel any better. When I shoot at targets that small at that range I try to set up the sights so that I'm firing at the entire target, not just the bull, and I let the elevation find the bull for me...at least in theory. :p

Photos look good on my end. Nice rifle! If you have a WWII collection, you definitely need another M1. That gun has Korean War written all over it! ;)
Thanks Mike D, saving for a M1 Carbine and ah bigger safe! LOL!
Yes the photos came out OK but after much gnashing of teeth i got them on my Profile THEN at last they "attached", normal procedure??

Yes 100 yards Chris_B, the target outer line is 9" and the black is 6 1/8", could be the wrong size, a friend sent me a PDF down load? for my printer and that was as big as it would fit :?. Yeah it was tough on these ole eyes..and that does make me feel better LOL!

Try using the lollipop sight picture and adjust your elevation till your hits are at center black. At 100yds. the front sight post almost completely blocks out the black on the correct target(SR1) when aiming center mass.

+1, and congrats on the M1. As mentioned previously, they do tend to multiply! For some reason or another????? TE, and ME on your rifle?

Michael
Thank You highestangel, i don't think U.S. milsurps will multiply quite as fast as foreign arms in my safe, but oh man! what ah rifle, TE=2.5, ME=2.0

OK V98 I'll do that, the target does have SR-1 on it but when i down loaded and printed it i made it fit my 8.5 X 11 copier paper.

But the front sight did completely cover the 6" black at 100 yrds. so it's probably on the small side, next time I'll use a better rest and post another range report.

Thank all of you for your help,
