First civil guard rifle

I have several Finnish Mosin Nagants with civil guard markings on rebuilt receivers or bolts from previous lives, but this one is a first for me. I picked this one up as the receiver and stock were matching.

Meriden factory New England Westinghouse, buttplate is numbered matching. Rear sites have not been Finnish remarked, and the civil guard number corresponds to the Pirkka-Hame district. The receiver markings were crossed out when presumably transferred to the army. Coincidentally, the bolt body is from Remington and Finnish matching. All in all a fairly original New England Westinghouse that I am happy to have in my collection, it was time for a civil guard m91.

Nice!! My Westinghouse M91 is supposed to arrive tomorrow - but it’s just SA marked. My two CG rifles are an M28 and M28/30.

Trpg23: Excellent rifle! The unnumbered floorplate is also correct and probably original along with the whole triggerguard assembly. Why the Finns left so many of these NEW rifles intact is an interesting question.

The stock number belonged to Tampere Civil Guard, one of the largest individual Civil Guards. There is a museum in Tampere dedicated to the Civil Guard and the Lotta Svärd organisation.

Beautiful rifle, that one really tempted me, especially with the matching CG numbered stock. Glad it went to an M91 collector that will appreciate it!
