The black finish on RC K-98s seems to be the same stuff thats on the rebuilt Nagants. Is this anywhere near original finish on original production K-98s? The only all original K-98 I have ever owned looked to be phosphate, or parkerizing.

BTW My RC is a BCD 41. Which I think should be rust blued.

Some of them have Russian paint which can be removed with de-natured alcohol, but it should be rust-blue on a Gustloff 41.
Late war rifles were phosphated, none to my knowledge were done before 44.
