Howdy,
FNG here. No I mean funny new guy - jeez get your mind out of the gutter. Anyway I just bought a K98 and would like to learn how to field strip & clean it. I bought a few hundred rounds of Turkish ammo and I'm afraid it has corrosive primers. I want to know how to properly clean the weapon before I shoot it.

Thanx
lurch

Turk ammo is most def corrosive, AND very sooty to boot.
If your's is headstamped 47, it's not very accurate.
Rule of thumb used to be (back when Turk was still available) to check for loose projectiles before firing and don't forget to shake the cartridge to see if it has been overfilled with powder as some were just stuffed full to to the neck before the bullet was seated.
FWIW, even the "good" Turk (like the 43) will run 3200 feet per second in a 29 inch barrel like a GEW98 or 98/22 Czech, so it's considered quite "hot".
