Fake receiver markings have been done before, usually with engravers. First I have heard of a stamp though. I'm certain that sometime in the future there will be completely fake 98k's that will be hard to detect, more likely bnz marked guns as they tend to have more followers.

I can't imagine someone stamping a receiver ring as they are pretty hard and I would think ruin a stamp.....but then again ...if someone were that decietful, then they would probably take the hardness away with a tourch or something. Very sad indeed.
