Flea Market find. Very curious critter. What would this have been used for? Trainer of some sort? Appreciate your thoughts.

Looks like the bottom of the trigger may have broken off as well. Neat find though at a flea market -- I would have picked it up for a few bucks!

I agree yes, the bottom of the trigger maybe broken off

A Type 38 style single-shot training rifle receiver. @seinen might be able to identify the maker.
