While out and about today i ran across an enfield that was supposed to be chambered in 410...Condition overall was pretty shoddy and price was $275, was this an unusual piece and is the price good or high?

These rifles are not really unusual. Many were made in India and used for Guard Duty and even some bird hunting. They were chambered for a brass shotshell but when imported many of them were converted to .410 and reamed out accordingly.

I would not pay $275 for a "shoddy one.

A number of them will fire a 2-1/2" .410 with no problems. Some importer reamed some out to 3" for that magnum effect you get with that additional 1/2" on that .410.
