Has anyone given any consideration to having electronic locks on gun safes and the effects of EMP? It may make getting into them impossible just when you need them most.

And how about static from shuffling your feet on the carpet?

All the electronic locks on gun safes that I have seen have a physical key back up... Personally, I have found common firearms to be of little immediate use during a nuclear attack.

Dam AmmoSgt, you must be older than I thought. Were you at Hiroshima or Nagasaki?
Hey Alden, Where do you keep your Davy Crockett?
Keep a cutting torch handy in case you lose your key ;)

A shot of straight oxygen from it cures hangovers too. Don't ask how I know that.

Well, in an electronic safe of course -- but I'll be damned if I didn't forget to pay the utility bills!

I PUT A WITNESS MARK ON THE DRILL SPOT YEARS AGO BECAUSE OF / in-case of LOCK FAILURE. never thought of EMP at the time. but no key back up on this safe.
thats how i got it for half price from the store- but called the lock manufacture they sent one free. and i fixed the broken one too.<><dk
I have never seen a gunsafe with an electronic lock that had a key back up.....maybe I don't get out enough?

EMP is a serious concern with any electronic lock. Dials are slower to access but more reliable and rugged. Youse pays yer money and youse takes yer choice.
