I don’t often share my own finds on the boards, so thought I would share a recently acquired early socket bayonet. It is a ca. 1715 long-shanked Dutch/Liege socket bayonet nearly identical to the example pictured on page 87 of Erik Goldstein’s book, The Socket Bayonet in the British Army 1687-1783. This piece nicely helps fill a gap in my collection between the military plug bayonet and Colonial American sockets.
