I don’t often share my own finds on the boards, so thought I would share a recently acquired early socket bayonet. It is a ca. 1715 long-shanked Dutch/Liege socket bayonet nearly identical to the example pictured on page 87 of Erik Goldstein’s book, The Socket Bayonet in the British Army 1687-1783. This piece nicely helps fill a gap in my collection between the military plug bayonet and Colonial American sockets. There are more pics and info on my site at http://worldbayonets.com/Bayonet_Identification_Guide/Britian__Pre_WWII_/britain_pre_wwii_2.html#lsb
