Hi Fellow Collectors, It seems the Early no date ( 1933 ) 28/30 Sk.Y Rifles are difficult to find ??
I assume not many made and how many survived ??
Please give input/opinions, Thanks

The serial numbers of the undated ones run from 33017 to 35677.
I have 82 "no date" numbers in my data base.
I have 885 total m/28-30 numbers..........and 592 m/28's.
Bottom line - the "no date" ones aren't rare, but a little hard to come by.
I have two. One will be buried with me.

What ever happened to that one that rode Gunbroker for years @ $1,200 and was the earliest recorded 28/30?

I have serial #35216. This one still has an M28 front sight which is quite uncommon from what I've seen. Seems most had the front sight replaced with the adjustable style found on later M28/30's and M39's.

If you're speaking of 33036, I have no idea. I know, or knew, the guy that owned it, but haven't been in contact with him in years. It was the lowest m/28-30 number I've ever seen. Mine is just a little higher.

Yes. The rifles saw a lot of use in the 1930’s. although 2660 were made, some of them were rebarreled or updated to m39’s. Originals with m28-type frontsight are hard to come by.

I have 33616: Chatellerault receiver and one-piece (not spliced) stock, with no aluminum barrel sleeve. Sights are both the Mansner type.

I have 34613 out of Viipuri district and it looks like it. It’s a very battle scarred kiv that may well have been
recovered from the battlefield but the bore is still pretty good. It might be my favorite of all I’ve ever had and
though it speaks to me, I sure wish it could talk.

I've owned 6 or 7 over the years and currently have 2.
I've seen 33017 (the very first regular production 28/30) at a museum in Finland! I owned 32997 which was an M28 with normal Tikka barrel.

It's important to note that Vic's article about late serial M28s having 28/30 barrels is incorrect. There are M28s with 28-30 profile/marked barrels around, but these are Civillian sales guns.

I have 33400, which has the original non-adjustable front sight, and 34409, which appears to be unissued.
