"This is a rare "ROCKOLA" manufacture M1 Carbine. The rear of the receiver is marked ROCKOLA as is the barrel. There is a cartouche consisting of a series of numbers (unit number?) over PG - W 10/57 over what looks like an eagle wings down with BMV:00 over Z7 located on the sling inlet on the left side of the buttstock."

From a Century Auction description. Is anyone Familiar with the Cartouche?

Someone suggested it might be Post War German.

That is a standard post-war German acceptance proof. Bundesamt für Wehrtechnik und Beschaffung.

It is possible that M1 Carbine saw use with the West Germans. At least the stock did. Unless it is fake.

Your call.
