I am trying to figure out if this is for a Type 38 or Type 99. I was a bit confused by the info in my two reference books. It measures 6 1/32", riveted stop and well marked 945 preceded by the inspector mark. Any help is appreciated. John O.

Early Type 38 cover. The mark in front of the number is part of an assembly number. This one is early enough to have the 'straight across' bolt slot. Later ones were offset to give the cover a kick when opening the bolt.
