I agree with the vice grips. If you have one that is a long nose style, lock onto the end of the area that the ring was connected to and use the grips to roll off the metal seal like a sardine can. Don't cut yourself...that tin is sharp!

Vice grips on the end of the pull strip or tin snips could work. Maybe a BFH! Denny
I just hacked it open & ripped it open a piece at a time while praying I don't hit a primer.
I used pliers.. didn't roll like I thought it would,, had to rip pieces of tin off little by little

Sure is some smelly old blue paper, but nice shiny brass. :)

Just grab the stub of that "pull off" tab with a pair of Needle nose pliers. Then Twist the pliers until you ROLL the tab all around the can.....BINGO it is open!

On the Bulgarian tins that are plain unpainted steel with a ring, I too used a pair of vice grips and peeled the strip off a little at a time.

However, with the olive green cans with a tab, instead of a ring, the tab just broke off when I pulled on it, and I wound up using my angle grinder (with a wet towel around the can) to grind the corners. this left a clean, albeit sharp, edge.
