Not certain of the markings or age. any information would be helpful. its a mauser. Is the stacking rod a fake? or the sling? the bolt has no serial number but when I took it apart there was a 148 on one of the pieces, any idea what that is? Other small marks on the bolt that were to small to photo...looks like a R inside of a W, but very small.

Sling, stacking rod are correct. That rod is not a cleaning rod and is screwed in with a coarsely threaded end. Originally, the bolt was numbered from Mauser. The current bolt is most likely a replacement. The 148 is the last 3-digits from another bolt... the RW mark is a Mauser "Hallmark" and there is some disagreement about it's meaning.

If I recall correctly your s/n is +/- ~12 from 35,840. Your picture has the stock s/n blocked, but looks like it could be the same as the s/n on your barrel, if so, it matches your barreled receiver. The script on your handguard doesn't look to be period. One would have to wonder why it is there. Mauser DSM handguards are usually number stamped. Depending on the color, grain and dimensions of the handguard, it might be matching or just a good match. As BIO said, the sling is a nice original as is the rod. -a.

Its interesting that my mauser DSM-34 is only a few no's away from yours - but my stock & handguard have the serial # written in the bedding in pencil. Yours are stamped. Maybe mine is a replacement stock?

308nutt -- perhaps your dsm34 is not Mauser made? If it is Mauser made, I would expect a stamper serial in the channel...
My mauser DSM-34 has the serial # stamped in the stock's channel & un-numbered handguard..I checked them today. Sorry..must have got the numbering confused with the Gustloff KKW I had.
