Anyone had success with cutting a dovetail on a barrel with the Midway kit? I want to put a military front sight on a cut down Krag rifle. It's probably a shallower and longer dovetail than the usual rear sight dovetail normally cut. Any gotcha's?
Thanks

The easier way is to use a hacksaw to cut a series of slots in the barrel, then use the guide to finish the cut.
Use a flat file, or the edge of a large file to flatten the bottom, then finish with the dovetail file to make the actual undercuts.

The slots, spaced as close together as you can get them, removes the bulk of the metal and makes filing to final shape MUCH easier.

That sounds very reasonable. I have the device on order, and the front sight. Measure twice, cut once, and hope for the best! Once again the boards come in handy.
