Yes, it looks right. The Russian capture 98K's are a mismatch of refurbished parts that are electropenciled to match in their final reassembled form. Does it have a good bore? That's what counts for me on the RC 98's, because they are largely considered to be "Shooters".

R-guns is a good place to deal with and they have the best price.


That gun should clean up nice. byf43 with a cupped butt plate is correct.

'41 dated butt plate is cool too..

If you wish to make it look correct, use bronze wool with DA on the takedown disk and the butt plate to remove the Russian black paint. DA will also remove all the shellac and gunk from the stock. The bronze wool will not scratch anything. I used DA to remove all the paint and shellac from the stock and metal of my DOU45 which left it looking brand new.
