Information in the Winter 1987 Garand Collectors Association Newsletter reports that the approximate serial numbers of M1 rifles manufactured by Springfield Armory in the month of May 1945 range from 3717868 to 3797768. Your serial number indicates manufacture during this month.

Thanks Clermont. So,is it posible that the barrel is original to the receiver, with the barrel being made one month before the receiver?

Due to the way the M1s and most other U.S. military rifles were manufactured and assembled, it is fairly normal that barrel dates tend to be as much as three months before the indicated manufacture date of the receiver.
