Here's some of the photos he took while on Okinawa. The last photo was taken the night of VJ day. I wonder how many casualties that caused? Kind of a neat photo, taken where & when the war ended.

Morning Rob :

Thank you for the interesting family photos. Question what is the significance of the third photo of the person on the tree ?. There are a number of night time photos and film taken near the end of the war showing anti aircraft fire lighting up the night like a Fourth of July. Reminds me of Tet 1968 when our airbase on Phu Hiep was attacked by Charlie who after dropping a couple of mortar rounds to get the guards into the bunkers, then proceeded to satchel charge our OV-1s, a Huey, and an APU before scooting away. Shortly after that the whole 5 mile sub-area command opened up with the Korean 105s, 40mm pom poms, quard .50s, every tower with MGs, mortars, rifles, etc, fired away during the next 2 1/2 hours till daylight.
Talk about an expensive expenditure of ammo, results 3 damaged Mohawks, one destroyed Huey and APU, Charlie 0 losses.

I'm not sure but it looks like he's after those things in the tree - breadfruit??
Dogs,
Great pictures. Your Dad surely does not look happy to be there in the first picture, though I can't blame him!

He's a little happier in these two photos
