GR prefix is Romanian second contract 1940. Prefixes were AR through YR.

Y4 suffix is 1938, probable Romanian first contract or certainly if lion crest is scrubbed.

from what we can see in the pic, it looks like your GR prefix still has its King Carol crest! not many of them,
The King Carol crests (and others) show a wide variation in the thoroughness of the scrubbing. Most will show some remnant of the leaves on the side. Some show more. A rare few show all of the leaves with only the central back-to-back C scrubbed.

Photos show King Carol and King Michael crests. The first photo is not mine. Not long ago I bought an unscrubbed King Carol which was "lost" in shipment. The best I can find out is that probably a substitute UPS driver left the package outside the locked door of my FFL dealer. My dealer is honest and UPS is not talking but they paid the shipper the insurance for it - and the shipper refunded my money in full. It is good to pay the extra and get your shipments insured.
