This post-war holster came with a CZ27. The Seller thought it was for a CZ70. Can anyone confirm that it is for a CZ70, or if not, what it is for? It is 5 3/4" at the widest part of the flap, and 7 1/2" top to bottom with the flap closed. It is chocolate brown, but looks darker in the photos. Thanks,

It is a typical holster for pistol vzor 50/70 as used by Verejna Bezpecnost(communist version of police) part of the SNB(National security corps) in then Czechoslovakia.Traffic units were issued white holsters.I think these were used from the mid 60s' judging from period Czech movies I am watching sometime.Definetely used in 70s' and 80s'. See mine holster bought from Rick Reich in post bellow. He also has white ones.

Along with the 5 types there was also an open top black police holster that looks similar to the CZ82 black police holster and several shoulder holsters.

The first 4 types are similar to the CZ27 holsters.

pages 59-61 have pics of 5 examples in James Brown Cold War Pistols of Czechoslovakia.

I have not seen anything online showing the different types.

Thanks curly1 for the info. I'm going to have to get that book. Any idea where it can be found?

As to the holsters: I've only ever see the style which Like_Old-Guns for sale but have never seen the CZ27 style for the CZ70 offered before. I'll have to post a request for one in the WTB section.

On my first trip to Czechoslovakia in 1981 I paid close attention to the police and border guards' weapons and holsters. Thinking back I remember seeing the CZ27 style holsters which you referred to and now believe they must have been carrying CZ50 handguns in them because I heard that they (border guards/soldiers) used the CZ50 as well as the CZ52 and VZ61 Skorpion. I actually saw one guard/soldier wearing a BDU holding a Skorpion while standing along the tracks as the train entered the CSSR near Breclav from Austria.
On my last trip there while leaving for West Germany, I saw another soldier/guard in BDU's at the Cheb train station carrying what looked like a larger version of the CZ27 holster. I'm thinking now that holster must have been carrying a CZ52 pistol.
I couldn't tell which handgun the passport control officers were carrying due to the style of their uniforms which concealed all but the lower tip of the leather holsters which jutted out.
