I've got a M39 that I got off Gunbroker cheap because of a larger crack in the same place, I repaired it with Gorilla glue with no problem.

Recently got a M27 with serious problems that most would have flung, took about three differant glueings and settings but it is solid now.

Do it slow and be patient. If you can open crack a little wedge a wood toothpick in to keep it open and use a pipe cleaner to work the glue in.

Does Gorilla glue expand as it cures? Anyway, I have had good luck on stocks with Elmer's carpenter's glue.
Yep, why I like it. I use wood claps to hold item where I want it. Check it often and clean excess glue as it expands. As it expands it
"extrudes" throughout the crack.
