A Montana man drunkenly fired an AR-15 assault rifle into the air this morning after a coworker knocked on his RV and woke him up at a campsite in Fountain, police said.
Police confiscated the rifle and cited Edward J. DeVries, 38, with a misdemeanor count of prohibited use of a weapon after the incident at 6:13 a.m. at the KOA Campground at 8100 Bandley Drive, Fountain police Lt. Mike Haley said in a statement. No one was injured.
DeVries has been staying at the KOA while working for an area contractor, police said.
The call also resulted in the arrest of a second man, Gerald R. Kimdle, 57, on suspicion of drunken driving. Kimdle and DeVries were leaving the campground in a pickup when officers arrived, police said.
