Well my LPO got intrested in purchasing an M39.
He's a good guy about 10 yrs younger than me with 2 past deployment in the sandbox. Been around a bunch of plastic fantastic mattel wonder boomsticks yet is constantly intrigued about Mosins
He saw all my Mosin pictures at work (Yes it is still legal in the Navy to post your gun collection in your cubicle space) and decided to scrape enough funds to buy one of those $230 M39's on SOG's website.
You know us Corpsmen arent the type with ready money for Spur of the Moment gun purchases.:p
He's selling some stuff from his last 2 deployments to fund his dream Mosin .
So if any of you guys need some pointy blades for your AR's or maybe a parka and a holster, check out his poston the WTS/WTT Forum. lets help this Navy Corpsman plunge deeper into the DARKSIDE ..
Just trying to help out a Sailor and coach Him further into our realm.

I was also a Navy corpsman and most of what i shoot now are Mosins. I was in the Navy during the tail end of the cold war and when the Soviet Union broke apart, now I have a Ukrainian wife and Mosins, what happened? I have been tempted to be patriotic and get a Garand, but with the prices and cost of ammo, no way. Just to ease my conscience, bought my first US made milsurp the other week, a Finned M91 NEW, good enough for me. Just a tip, if you plan on making the Navy a career, try to get a NEC that involves sea time, supposedly that is real important. I used to be a 8432 (Preventive Medicine) and spent some time floating around on a sub tender.

You're right about the cost of M1's. They're just too highfor guys like me.
BTW Im planning on going 8404 (FMF Corpsman) soon as I wrap up my tour here in the Midwest. My LPO is going back to his Marines in 2 mos and he's trying to buy an M39 before he leaves here.
So you were Prev Med huh? I heard C school for that was tough! Hats off to you!
Take it easy and have a great weekend.
