Nice photo, and nice job....a real Frontkampfer...EKII, Winterschlacht, EKI, Infantry Assault, Black Wound Badge, and a Close Combat Clasp....But is it Bronze, Silver, or Gold??? Can you tell in a B&W photo?

Hey, thanks guys. The Close Combat Clasp looked a bit darker, in the original, so I guessed at Bronze. I think it is a safe bet.
I downloaded the Adode Elements 7, off the internet. Trial version. I wanted to make sure I liked it before I received the full edition for Christmas. I'm proud of my first attempt, but next time I think I will delineate the tress and medals a bit more....and maybe the insignia as well. I appreciate the kind words.

Thanks gents! It's not hard...just time consuming. I think it helps if one has an interest in uniforms, if that is what one wants to colorize. Otherwise just time consuming. Thanks for the kind words. I'm working on another one I'll post when I finish it.

Great work. It would be great to colorize a combat photo, or my personal all time favorite, the one in my avatar of SS Panzergrenadiers in Normandy.

Maybe I'll give this a try.

Arditi, Awesome job. I have a few Wartime post cards and pics I would like to have this done, using this method. Thanks for sharing the knowledge and the interesting idea.

here are my attempts. My girlfriend has photoshop so I convinced her to let me use her computer for a few hours tonight. I watched about 8 tutorial videos on youtube about colorizing in photoshop.

I am still working on them. She finally cut me off after 3 hours.

Thanks for the kind words gents. Here is my second one. I'm getting to know the tools a bit better. Criticism is welcome. I tried to show the early war stonegray and apple green paint jobs on the helmets. Also, the differing shades of early grey on the trousers. I think I'll try a period Italian soldato next.
