Anybody opened up a can of the Norwegian "AYR" ammo? Curious as to the stampings on the back of the enblocs holding the ammo. Never heard of Norwegian made enblocs, and curious if there is such a thing.

I dont bemoan selling of CMP purchases. No one ever said you had to keep it for eternity, but these might be pushing it with their quick turnover. Proves to me time-after-time what great deals the CMP has.

It would have been nice if the CMP had put limits on the number of cans sold to an individual, but I suspect the CMP wanted to get rid of this ammo really-really fast. Would'nt do for the liberal press or politicians to go on about them selling "Cop Killer Bullets". Still not sure it wont yet come back and bite them in the ass. Sure beats the CMP destroying the ammo.

Anyhow the CMP has been real good to me. You will never hear a bad word about them from me. My feelings for the CMP are the same as I have for the NRA.

In most cases if someone is too lazy to go through the process of buying from the CMP, and helping ths shooting sports and organization, - I have a little trouble feeling much synpathy for them.

This time was different, and I'm sure some people just were not fast enough to get some.

I got my four cans coming though. No intention of shooting or selling it. Plan on placeing it with the 3-4k rounds of armour piercing .223 and 7.62x39 I also have. If we ever have a problem with zombies wearing body armour - I'm ready.

For anyone in a similar situation in the future - you can actually join the Garand Collector Association over the phone, and they will vouch for you. Same day.

Think the VA State Shooting Assoc. did the same for me once, but hear they cant now.

Yup - nothing you could do.

Used to post CMP annoucements on the US and Semi-auto board. Might go back to doing that again as there is a definite time difference between when the first person gets it - and the last. Never have fiqured out how their software sends email/updates - by last name, by last purchase, or something else.

Definitely worth making sure they have your current email address.

I really wish there had been a limit on this stuff too... maybe 10 or 20 cans per person. Seems stupid to let people buy trailerloads thats obviously for resale.

Problem is someone still would not have gotten any even if the limit was 4 or 6 cans. Someone always feels wronged. Make the limit 2 cans per person and there would still be people complaining. Someone will say it was'nt fare because they did'nt have the funds to purchase more than 1 or 2. Should have had lay away or financing available.

Face it - it was a great deal. Anyone ready with money bought it.

Guarantee you if you went out into the street and threw out 50,000 dollars for people to scoop up - someone would come up to you afterwards and complain they did'nt get theirs. Someone would insist that you should have doled it out equally, another would say you should have given it out based on need, still another would say to pass it out on accomplishment, etc.... People will bitch no matter what you do.

It is a shame to see what smacks a lot of socialism, to me, creeping into the firearm community - previously considered by myself a bastin of conservatism/capitilism.

As for limits - how would you control purchases made by children, wifes, siblings, or parents to bypass these limits? I am also more than ever convinced the CMP wanted this ammo gone real quick with very little publicity. Otherwise they would have announced the sale several days, or even weeks, before they put it on sale - like they normally do.

Anyhow I wish I had had the funds to buy 20 cans. Even forty, but I did'nt. I will choose not to complain about others good fortune. Wont be the first time I did'nt come out on top, and it certainly wont be the last.

Last point - there is nothing in the CMP charter about doleing out firearms and weapons equally to all. There purpose is solely to support shooting organizations/sports through sales. No government redistribution of wealth program there. Not exactly a purely capitilist organization either - or they would have charged a lot more for the ammo - and almost everything else they sell.

Sorry if I was preaching. As said earlier I have an extremely strong opinion when it comes to the CMP. Bring up the NRA and I will do the same. Watch out on the subject of illegal immigrants protesting with Mexican flags here. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. OBAMA!!!! THE DEBT!!!
