Just got off Gunbroker. Prices seem to be on an upward trend. Any idea why? Not saying they are drying up, just seems like prices are going up pretty fast. Other than Gunbroker, what are they doing in your neck of the woods. I can still get one from Dunhams for less than $100 when on sale. Just curious of your opinions. Thanks everyone.

Tula Man, hope you got one of those Gibbs Rifle Co. Mosins import marked Martinsburg WV, talked to the owner at Chantilly, he says they are all gone and doesn't know when he can get more, that's why the MD shop is out at the moment.

I have noticed a small increases; <$5 to $10 in most cases. I attribute it to the rising fuel prices. I would expect to see most items increase in relation to energy costs. Just my opinion, I not have any firm data to correlate it to however.
However it seems as if all firearms prices are trending upwards. Pre-election jitters perhaps (just another thought).

I had a guy selling for 85 at the show for round and 95 for hex but everyone else seems to be asking 100-150.

I just spent 1500 on a crate but I know crate are being sold, after tax, for around 1750

So reatail seem to be staying level. Why are prices going up on Gunbroker? Just trying to understand what is going on. I'm just a little confused.
Could be any number of things but the 3 most likely are.

1 Income tax returns.

2 More money than brains. The whole getting to deep in the bidding to know when to stop!

3 Like someone said I think pre election jitters.

It's tax season. 3 months ago a car that sold at a wholesale auction might have brought $12,000. Now that same car will do almost $16,000. Politics are another reason. And I agree with higher fuel prices. Diesel is over $4 a gallon now. It takes trucks to ship these crates. I imagine they have not passed on the price hike to consumers as much as they should have by now. And another reason that would affect GB sales more is that it seems to be getting little tougher paying for everything and with a vast amount of cheap rifles a shooter is looking for a "good deal". There have been quite a few newer people to Mosins and mil-surps lately. Just some random thoughts.

They were all silly money at the last show here. I doubt anybody bought them.

I just checked out some of the completed auctions on GB and it seems like run of the mill refurbs are selling for $80-100 winning bids, though there are plenty of sales of ex-snipers and ex-Dragoons well over $100.

Local retail inventory of refurbs is less than say one year ago, seems like the CAI fake snipers have displaced the regular 91/30s in a disproportionate way - instead of half a dozen refurbs in a rack like before there is now one fake sniper and two regular refurbs.

Retail prices seem to be stable from $99-$129, depending on the store. I don't remember the last time there was an $89 sale, its been a long while.

It's a predictable cycle here in North Texas. Cabela's will put them on sale for $99. They fly off the racks bought (mostly) by people that don't know anything about them except that they are a big gun for a little price. Then a couple of weeks after the sale, the local gun/hunting forums will be flooded with those same folks trying to sell them for $150. I don't know about the rest of the Country but non-store pricing in Texas has become ludicrous. I ran across a guy at the last gun show I attended who was selling his Glock 23 with over 10,000 rounds (his estimate) for $650. Standing next to a dealer selling them new for $489. It's a mental illness.

I also believe it is fuel related. In trying to reorder from new sources(5gun/carton) or by the 20 gun case, I will have almost $100 in each rifle by the time shipping is factored in. If I want to keep selling them, I will have to pass on a minimum percentage to stay in business. Needless to say, I didn't reorder this week. I'm not going to be the dealer pointed out as "can you believe he's selling Mosin refurbs for $129.99 this week, last week they were $109.99 out the door..".

Same with 7.62x54r, this past week with shipping, the best I found was >$180.00/880rd delivered. I can't resell that.
