I am usually a purist but the T-53 I got from Don could really use a restoration job. I haven't ever restored a milsurp so I am hoping you guys could give me some help on the subject. It was produced in 1955 so of course it isn't exactly a big time collectors item right now. I was impressed with the condition of the receiver, buttplate, bolt, bayonet, and magazine. There is no pitting on any of the metal and the bluing is VG. The stock was pretty beatup though so I am hoping to get it looking decent. I just don't know where to start or what supplies I will need. I filled the cracks and dings in the stock with wood filler and sanded them even. If I do anymore sanding to the stock I am going to go ahead and safe my shavings so the grain on the areas where I used the wood filler will match that of the rest of the rifle.
Thanks!:):D;)
