I would guess the 762x39 isn't hurt as bad as the 223, the 762x39 loads are made for 16 inch barrels, the 223 mostly for 20 inch. the 223 takes quite a hit out of a 14 inch M4 barrel, I bet you might not be doing much better then a 22 mag out of the Champion Plus lighter bullets need speed, the heavier bullets will retain more energy by weight alone.

Looking around the net velocity of 1,950-2,450fps are claimed for the 223, I would guess load would make alot of the difference. The 762x39 out of pistol should give you 1,900-2,100fps, again based on the loading. I bet many 223 pistol shooters will not be happy if they aren't breaking 2,000fps out of their pistols . It really wouldn't equal a 22mag even if the speed is the same (that was a joke) as bullet weight in most 223 loadings are heavier, hence more energy, but it's closer then most think it is...
