That's why I'm asking the question! Wanting to get a barometer reading, and input from you guys. If not for me, for the new guys that don't know that little tid bit of info. However, that still doesn't address the safety issues that Century is trying to correct(maybe), and I was curious as to what everybody else had been experiencing with these rifles. Mine was not ejecting the spent shell casing correctly, and was causing a stoppage, intermittently. On top of that, the shell casing was dented beyond reloading, even upon normal operation of the rifle.

I have many Century arms in my arsenal, and have had nothing but great results from them all. I'd bet, if you looked DiN BLiX, if you reside in the US, that if you have any collection at all, you'll find that at least one of those weapons will be stamped with a Century import mark! How many Century arms do you have? Century does have their problems, but at least they are trying to deal with them. Yes, I can probably solve the problem, but, If I do that, then I let them off the LEGAL hook. If I let let them fix it(?), then they're liable. JMHO.

After mixed experiences with Century build firearms I decided to assemble my ARM Galil kit myself. Using the original bolt from the kit it shoots and functions just fine. Headspaced perfectly OOTB, didn't require any work to the bolt whatsoever. The dented case on ejected brass isn't unusual, that's why Valmet built port buffers (I gotta figure out how to modifly a Valmet buffer to fit and work with the Galil vertical bolt handle).
Has anyone heard exactly what problem the bolt replacement is supposed to fix? They certainly wouldn't be doing this if it wasn't absolutely necessary. I just hope the swap isn't burecratic in nature; like something along the lines of the ATF suggesting that a FA bolt cannot be used in a SA firearm. Go to AR15.com and they have the thread of death on just this topic. The confusion over the legality of FA and SA bolt carriers in SA AR15s is almost mythic. And the ATF is legendary for issuing vague rules, open to multiple interpretations (and some want the gov't to run our healthcare?!!).
BTW, I haven't heard of Galils built by others (ORF, etc) having problems using the original bolt. Interesting. Can't wait to hear the truth behind this.

The fix is to add a spring loaded firing pin so softer commercial ammo does not slam fire due to the firing pin. Most here are correct the original IMI military bolts do not have spring loaded pins and are safe only with milisurp 556 loads, the commercial IMI galils came in with spring loaded pins just for commercial ammo. As far as I know ORF and others building galils are using the same military bolts so they would have the same flaw, just not the same lawyers ;) . Few I know want to send their galils back, I will be shooting mine Monday so we will see how it does.

I sent my galil back before the recall due to doubling with commercial primers,

they replaced the firing pin and sent it back,

now I get another letter to send it back for a bolt replacement...I think I will hold on to it this time and just be careful with what I shoot in it.

Doc, The letter Century sent me states, "we have upgraded the bolt and added a firing pin return spring", so there must be more than one issue with the rifle, or, the spring wasn't enough of a fix. So yours shoots, and functions fine now, or were you having issues before you sent it back?

I'm doubtful you're going to fix anything by replacing an OEM bolt, do you really think a replacement USA made bolt has a better chance of working then the IMI military bolt? They just want to cover all the bases IMO with the lawyers with the guns marked 223 cal and not really safe for commercial 223 ammo.
