Has anyone shot any of this ammo? It's the 149gr stuff. I think it listed as item am868.

I received some it of today and it's 1984 Soviet light ball. I haven't shot any of the eighties stuff but I have fired a fair amount of 1940's Soviet light ball. Basically average accuracy with split necks off and on. I'm not sure the 1980's stuff suffers from the split necks or not but going off what others have said about accuracy I'd say its little if any better than the older stuff. Although you could come up with a rifle or carbine that just loves the stuff.

Century had the combloc 54r on special in November for a really good price.Even the normal price is good IMO.
1Eye , have you tried the 1980's Bulgarian 54r yet ? If so how did it perform ?

I too like the Bulgarian 54r ammo. Very consistent and relatively clean.

I do like it better than the russ I don't know why i don't like the russ i think it's because the russ can be good sometimes and not so good the next time. I have had old cans of the russ thats been really bad splits and duds.

I have five tins of the stuff but I haven't opened any yet. When I spoke to my rep at Century he told me over the phone that it was Albanian and brass case. I found out later that it is steel case and Russian. The tins are in such nice condition that I've decided to keep them sealed and shoot some of my older ammo first...

I've fired a lot of the 1980's Yugo brass cased ammo. It's heavy ball and I've found it to be very accurate in most of my rifles and carbines. It's my favorite 7.62x54r and the brass seems to be very good quality but unfortunately they use an odd sized berdan primer. I still save the brass just in case.

I have a lot of the Yugo 54r i got it years ago when Aim sold it for a $1.25 a box. It's the same stuff that we can get now very good ammo. The cases are the same now as they were way back years ago. The only thing that has changed is the price. I liked it better at $75 a case compared to today's price at $300.

You're comparing apples to oranges. You're comparing old , probably repacked ammo to modern light ball surplus.Duh.
