I visited with Riceone this weekend and he noted he was repairing the front sight on someone's 99 CC and the barrel was the same diametere on either side of the sight! He had to remove it with a Dremal (sp.) l tool. Is this a common feature with these rifles?

Doss, earliest production T99's had a constant taper barrel, same as T38. The T99 step at front sight with constant diameter to barrel tip was introduced later and was a production cost savings feature. I have never tried to determine the series/serial number introduction point for this feature. Some early production CC rifles will have the constant taper barrel, for example, my early Kokura #1396

Hopefully Riceone, RCB, will post his experience with the one he worked with.

CC Barrel

I just miked the end of about 12 rifles, smallest was .543" and largest was .550". I may have removed and replace a dozen sights for one reason or another but the CC we are talking about was the first that was the same size. Interesting. riceone.
