In the previous post it was bandered back and forth on the Martini shell load. So if I take my old fashoned powder scale for black powder and put the plunger to 80 grains that will be right on for black powder and pyrodex. Am I not correct or am i overloading and going to blow my head off? Sorry if this has been answered a thousand times. No question is a stupid one if its gonna kill me.

Thanks

Garry,

You make 1 serious mistake: 80 grains of black is allright - but if you want to shoot pyrodex, you need the same volume as 80grs of real black - not the same weight. So take a powder measure, adjust its volume to throw 80grs (weight) of real black powder, and then use it for Pyrodex at the same setting. You will have the same volume, but the weight will be quite a bit different - 50-something grains or so. That is the only correct way to use pyrodex.

Right Pyrodex is a lot lighter than Black powder. And yes powder, wax card ,felt cookie soaked in wax, beeswax plug, another card, then the paper patched bullet. Thanks guys just wanted to make sure I was doing what I already knew what was right.
