i just picked up 2 50.cal black powder rifles and needing parts for them there CVA. also needing info on the grease you use to put in after you have loaded all chambers, new to the black powder thanks
What kind of rifles are these exactly? Are these inline, percussion, or flint?? You will need to use high temp anti-sieze on the breech plug threads on an in-line, but you only grease the patch or grooves on a conical in the other two frontloaders.
yes i have 2 revolvers 1844 cap and ball. the rifles are percussion cap rifles the grease question should of been for the revolvers lol. also how much powder do you load into the rifle been way to long since i shot black powder. now i have 5 black powder rifles. 2 revolvers. my prize rifle is my dads TCA hawkins my dad left me yrs ago thanks.. happy shooting
Hey wingman, for those .50's I would recommend that you start off with a charge of 50 grains of FFg black powder (ie GOEX) and work from there. Picking the charge, ball, patch combo that your gun likes best is half the fun of shooting these guns!
