Over at my local gunstores yesterday looking at the latest batch of No4 for LB serials when THIS caught my eye.

Very fine condition No4, with VERY fine machine electro-lettered on the LHS of the receiver -

C.I.A or G.I.A GEORGIA VT.
CAL 303 ENGLAND
SER MK40886S or maybe 5

All other numbers had been either too lightly struck to register, or were not there in the fust place.

It had a two-groove barrel as well, and very nice, smooth wood.

Not seen one like that before.....

That's the import mark for Century Tac. Plus the nice newly applied serial number that's all the rage here these days.

CIA is Century International Arms, a Company that imports firearms into the United States. It has been around for quite a long time, and did have a Canadian Branch until the Idiot Liberal Government made a lot of gun control noises.

They haven't started adding their serials to Long Branch or Savage rifles, have they? For a while at least it appeared Century was only adding a new serial to rifles where the original was faintly struck, as with many British No4s.

Though I have seen a K31 with a clearly-struck completely-untouched original serial number that Century improved with a new dot-matrix one.

I don't know...the otherwise (nearly) pristine unissued Maltby I have has one on it, and it's original s/n is entirely clear and legible.
