When I saw this thing aproaching my table at the show, wasn't sure what I was looking at. My first thought was, AR 180, with wood furniture, then it went to Galil. Still not sure, if I've ever seen one before. I remember the "pistols". Picked up the basics, with a google search. They were made in multiple configurations. Pretty straight-forward weapon. AK upper, with an AR lower. My questions are: Whatizzit worth, and how reliable are they? Thanks for any info.

They had a pretty crappy rep when they were new. Although collectors of Bushmasters need one as well as their uniqueness and place in history that tends to keep prices high. Most I would bet would consider them collectables VS shooters.

Those first generation Bushmaster rifles were real turds. The Koreans did a good job of combining an AK & M16, but Bushmaster's rifle was just beyond crude. Some worked just fine. Others... not so much. The last Blue Book value I saw on these was $425 NIB. Bushmaster collectors gobble them up quick.

I saw one at a gun show last week end. I concluded right off it was a flash in the pan and won't be seen for long.
Actually, they haven't been seen, for a long time. Mfg stopped, around 1988. If you count the earlier Gwinn ind. mfg versions, they were made for about 15 years. The concept was good, just ahead of it's time. The technology, and metalurgy just were'nt there yet. I also think, that the visual similarity to a Communist weapon, hampered sales during the Cold War era. Current Blue Book has it, in 100% at $675.00. Add $65.00, for maple wood furniture.

Hate to dig up an old thread, but are these things worth anything to Bushmaster collectors? We ended up with one at the shop still in the box with all the original paperwork. No clue as to what it should be priced at.

I think the wood stocked variants are more rare than the folders with synthetic stocks. I made a pistol work for a friend. It just needed some different springs to make it 100%.
