I wanted to share my Brazilian 1908 Short Rifle I recently stumbled on in a small shop. I've been doing some research one these and learned a lot, especially on these forums.

This rifle in one of the initial 1908 production guns, having no serial number suffix. It has been re-barreled, but still retains an original, but non matching, short rifle rear sight. I am not sure whether it is or was an original short rifle, but it is interesting that it still retains original sights. The front sight blade has what appear to be two sets of peen marks, which makes me think the front sight base was re-used. The stock appears to be an original short rifle stock as the unit disk is positioned about 3.125" from the buttplate. Beneath the buttplate there are some markings (photographed). There are no import marks on this rifle as well, which is odd. I suspect it would have had to have been imported prior to the GCA of '68?

From my research, mostly on Gunboards, it sounds like there were 10,000 short rifles made by DWM Berlin, all from the initial production run for Brazil.

I've attached some photos, but they're also viewable on this imgur album: .

If anyone has more info, insight or would like to see more photos, please let me know! I've posted on the "1908 Short Rifle Research" post (Brazilian Original Mod 1908 Short Rifle Research Request) as well for the sake of adding to that discussion.

A few more usefull links I've found:

Very nice, thanks for sharing. I lucked into two of the full size models. A local guy was selling one from his fathers collection, I was an early import with the importer stamp on the muzzle all matching. The second one was missing some parts and was also cheap. The first was $220 and because he was local I didn't have to pay for shipping. The second one was $140.00 missing the bolt and floor plate which I have replaced. Unfortunately the second one is a more recent import and has the billboard importers mark up near the crest. The first has the 'B' flag on the stock while the second has the Star of David stamp.
