Saw this box of ammo on auction, I would guess it is Chinese since it is 1949 dated?

I have one, it was sold to me with that understanding

it is a Chinese 6.5 ammo box. 三八式机步枪子弹means Type 38 rifle ammo, 十五发 means 15rounds, 东北军区军工部means east north military region department of war industry ; made in 23 may 1949

Lot of these were imported in the mid '80s. Seems like there were three or four different years of manufacture. Rumor was that there was also one year of 99 production, but I've never seen proof.
