Had been watching this one on GB for some 5 days time. Presentation was not complete and few macro pics. But, I used email to get my questions answered. It is claimed in the auction and confirmed by my questions, etc. that it is an all matching rifle. Except for, as usual, the darn cleaning rod. It will be awhile before I get it into my hands and can take macro pics. Then, I will know exactly what I have here.
I am posting the Auction pics for today. Just bought a couple of hours ago. It does look very promising to me at this time.
PLEASE, if you see some thing I may have missed here, let me know. I need you guys advise as I will be adding probably one or two more of these. Too old for the Mosins, but these shoot with no pain for an old guy! And, I think my price was decent for the gun.

Thanks for Looking,
Steve

Looks like a good buy to me . I see nothing wrong with it . The French walnut stock & hand guard is correct for 1912 & probably matching . Depending on how many rounds have been fired through the bore , the brass disc indicates an excellent bore . We do not expect cleaning rods to match , as the importers removed them in mass to stamp the barrel with import info . No effort to match them was made . The M96 was a good choice & more to come .

Thank you Swede. I appreciate your comments. This is my second M96 in the last 6 weeks. My 1899 Oberndorf is
pretty close to matching, but the darn rear barrel band and site were replaced. Just those two little things plus the rod.
Best shooter I have so far though.

If I was 30 or 40 years younger you are darned right I would be. Wish I would have gotten my first years ago.
Had an actual Finnish Manufactured Mosin back in the early 60's that I paid $25 for at a Gambles Hardware Store.
Still in High School then. Could buy any long gun in those days. Still, not accurate for me due to the darn recoil.
Just cannot remember seeing any M96 around in say 1960 to 1963. Got my eye now on what would be my last ever Swede I am certain.
It's what I think is real Sniper with an AG some thing I think it is scope and mount. All the scope equipment is S/N matched to the gun.
It came back here on a Troop Transport ship that was in the Baltic Sea area after WWII. I saw it only once, but he says he may have to sell it.
A friend of my past step-father. The gentleman is 93 years old now and is soon moving to a nursing home. Doubt I can afford it if it truly is real.
But, I am stoked about the two very excellent ones I was fortunate enough to find.

I guess late life Swede shooter is the best I can do nowadays.

Nice rifle and in pretty good shape too.

During the late 1950s and early 60s, there was quite a few m/94 Carbines available. In the USA, most were modified with an extension to make the barrel length over 18 inches to comply with Government laws.

It was not until the very late 1970s and early 1980s that the m/96 and m/38 rifles began to show up in any big numbers. The reason is that they were still the current front line rifle until about 1980. Therefore, they were still in regular service with the Swedish Military.

On my pic above, the match number and the crown is clear on the outside of the floor plate. Right where it should be.
That is what I have been told, but I am no expert on these. Now, let me see a Russian SKS, then I am really in my own realm. Right Howie? :)

Yep. That's exactly where it should be, on the outside of the floorplate. Looks like you got a good one, just an honest old girl that will give you a lot of pleasure.
