Bought this today for a very good price. BYF 42 with all numbers matching except for the extractor. The bore is excellent and there is no rust or pitting anywhere. I would like to find a correct stock for this gun but am not sure where to look besides ebay and gun broker. Any help would be appreciated. I am not a big military collector so I am not exactly sure what the correct stock for this would be.
Thanks
Steve

What is a "very good" price for a mismatched rifle?

Here are a few more pics to look at. I guess I would also like to know what kind of money this would bring as is and with a correct stock. Is it worth it to spend the money to make this correct. As it sits I have $200 into it. If I have to spent another two to three hundred to make it correct have I spent more than it's worth?
Thanks
Steve

Pop it out of the stock, and check the numbers in the barrel channel... might be orig. These came in laminate and less commonly walnut stocks with a prominent E/WaA135 in the wood on the right side... and another at the wrist. A third is on the bottom keel of the stock.

IMO, $200 was a no-brainer buy on this rifle...

No the numbers in the barrel channel don't match. And it has been sporterized so it wouldn't be correct anyway. But thanks anyway.

I think you got an excellent price on the gun. Go to the website listed above and if you don't find what bobinohio suggested, then email the seller (mario) and ask him to look for the stock with E/135 waffens. Make sure to tell him you would rather not have a stock that has the wooden dowel reinforcer that travels through the bolt cutout of the stock. the norwegians put these in to fix the cracks in that internal area. it doesn't hurt anything except the look of the stock.

$200 plus another $230 or so and you are likely up $170 or more. probably more since your rifle is a '42 manufacture and a byf. (any '42 manufacture is harder to find except in rc). you did good.

Looks like Mario has some WaA 135 marked, laminated, cupped buttplate stocks (if his website is accurate). The only problem is that one of them looks to be in pretty rough shape (at least, for his stocks). About $230 is what they're running...

Looks like (to me) that's a butchered JPS stock on that rifle (just by the bolt take down washers).

If you really want to save some dough, look for a post war czech stock. I would call Abda at (crap, can't remember the site) and ask her is she has any stocks. You may even want to order a $229 post war czech rifle and take the stock off it and put it on your rifle. Keep the post war rifle or sell it off.
