Working hard and receiving bad news

Progieki, 18/8/1916
Mein liebes Rosalchen!
Jetzt eben 2 Briefe erhalten u(nd) 2.
(question mark is mine).
Viele Grüsse an deine Eltern (last words upside down at beginning of the letter).

My dear Rosalchen!
This morning we had to work really hard, unloading supplies, flour, oats, wine and cooked goods and so on, then we have to get at it like prisoners from 06.20 in the dawn until late evening, hardly one and a half hour midday rest; really in Turisk the prisoners were better off, but for us the word is keep going. If you are to send undergarments don't send too much as we don't have the opportunity to send the dirty ones back, anyway there are always lice in them, don't send me a vest at the moment, if it gets too cold I'll put on my drill tunic underneath, one cannot be spoiled here. Now I got two more letters and two parcels numbers 210, 211, 212, 213, I enjoyed them a lot and say thanks to you all for them. It is terrible with Walters Brother, so he drowned while trying to rescue a lady, so the family Bierich will have to live through this too during this terrible war, that makes me sad from the bottom of my heart. Will Walter come back to Ohrdruf again? Naturally this kind of application will take a long time before it goes through, it always follows the queue on, or then to- (I'm guessing the meaning of this, Big Commander. I believe that this religious man does not want to say the [email protected]£l word. He is stating that either it takes its time in the queue or it will go to He#[) So far I'm fine and I hope that you, dear Rosalchen, our little Walter, the parents, Else and father are too, and now be greeted heartfelt and kissed a thousand times by your Karl.
Many greetings to your parents.

I waited for your opinion BC about the course of the way the application went (or could go), you're probably right. I was thinking of "or will find his way to the paper basket".
