I don't know, but he must've used the wrong wand, on Chip's new kanji marked Russian Berdan rifle. That shoulda gone for more, I thought. And yes, blind people REALLY DO buy guns. I was at a show in Ruston, where there is a large school for the blind. A group of about 25 came to the show. Half of them bought handguns!

The bolt and the safety look to be 723, to me at least. The white paint on the bolt root s/n sort of "closes" the 3 to make it look like an 8. The last time I checked, an 8 shouldn't flat on top....especially when you compare it to the receiver s/n font. Both s/n's appear to be different fonts.
The buggered up trigger guard screws don't impress me either.

The safety stem is a 3 for sure. Magnify the pic amd you can see the upper "circle" of the digit has a sharp straight cut back and the flat top. You could find slightly buggered tops on an "8" but the right upper side being straight is a killer.

I noticed the exact same thing.
What an insult to the collecting community; the seller didn't even try to hide the incorrect safety. That "3" is very clear and easy-to-read. And I agree about the flat top on the "8" of the bolt root not looking right. The the "8" on the left side doesn't look like it closes quite right where it meets at the middle as well.
He was playing us as fools, and unfortunately he found someone to believe his misrepresentation without examining the photos very closely. I'm being polite here and won't outright say he lied. I'm surprised he didn't claim the screws were still all staked too.
I hope someone will alert the buyer about the problem with his "matching" rifle.
