I bought, at auction, my first French rifle. It is marked 1917 and is a Berthier long rifle that has not been modified in anyway other than having the bolt replaced. Being a newby with French rifles, I`d appreciate any comments or observations anyone would like to make.

Hello

The bolt handle seems to have a problem , normally it is straight.

The bolt , as you can see, was replaced...... however there appears that no `unusual force` was applied to it. The serial number seems to be in a near sequence . ?? I do enjoy sluething when something appears out of place.......... any thoughts about the bolt?

It was slightly bent by 'bubba' for some reason, as moblotaire said it should be straight.
