Overall, this Beretta I got from Classic is in pretty good condition. But the "underbite" at the rear of the slide irritates my OCD. I've looked at images of a number of these pistols online and it seems to be not-too-uncommon to find one where the frame protrudes a bit.

Anyone know what causes this? I doubt the gun left the factory this way. I'm just wondering if there's a common method that a gunsmith would use to fix it. Or, if I should just accept it as-is.

With the takedown lever in the "locked" position, no damage is visible. In fact all the internals show very little wear. (Aside from a gouge in one frame rail adjacent to the slide lock).

I've accepted it for what it is: a decades-old police trade-in.
